"Garryowen", likewise referred to as "Garry Owen" (& Garyowen, Gary Owen & Gary Owens), is an Irish dance tune [http://media.mudcat.org/MIDI/GARYOWEN.MID (MIDI file)] of a 1800s which became the marching tune for the US 7th Cavalry Regiment during the late 1800's. the tune was a favored of General George Armstrong Custer and became the official air of the Regiment around 1867. Based on data from legend it was a survive tune played prior to a Battle of the Little Bighorn.

a title of the tune has be a a portion of the regiment, the words Garry Owen come section of the regimental crest, & there is a Camp Garry Owen, northward of Seoul, Korea, which houses a portion of the Fourth Squadron of the regiment.

in 1921, and "Garryowen" became the official tune of the division in 1981.

the tune has as well been associated by owning a total of British military force.

A word garryowen is from either Gaelic, a proper noun Oein & a word for garden garrai - so "Owen's Garden". Garryowen occurs as Rugby football club, a town inside County Limerick, Ireland, and a town inside Montana, U.s. touching the places of the Little Bighorn battle.
